My car is a 1997 SL2, and it idles high, about 1200-1300 RPM's and when the car is given a slight amount of gas, the car almost dies, then catches itself and goes back to a high idle. I have purchased a TPS for the car, but not installed, I have also changed out the EGR Valve, the plugs and wires. When the car does die, it acts as if it is flooded emitting black smoke, when the peddle is held to the floor the car starts up. Any ideas please, I need to get my car past it's emissions test.
