Is the shift lock on a 96 SL2 mechanical or electrical. If it is mechanical could you please describe the operation of it. Thanks!

The part of it that keeps u from taking it out of park without putting ur foot on the brake is electricial when u step on the brake the solindo releases to allow u to take it out of park. Hope this answers ur question.
