my battery light is coming on at low rpm. there is also a whining noise.

do u have a voltmeter if u do check ur battery voltage at idle u should have close to 13 or above.it sounds like u havea bad alternator.turn on ur headlights a/c all that let car idle check ur voltage at idle let me know what voltage u have.
