1995 Saturn SL2 HC problem during smog test

1995 Saturn SL2 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 146k miles

Just failed smog test HC 1 point over acceptable the car was cold and gas level below 1/4 . Any thoughts on what I should do we have 10 days to retest before I would Have to pay for a smog again. thanks for your time and thoughts in advance.

if ur car was cold thats a good reason it failed.these saturns have to be good and hot to pass the engine and the cat.i would drive the car for 30mins before the test.bring the car to them nice and hot try to make and appointment so it can be tested when u get there.have u kept up maintance like sparkplugs all that u should change them every 30,000 miles on that car and no platnuim plugs in that car period.better to stick with stock a/c delco or ngk.the platnuim plugs carbon foul the tips on those car causing missing.also how much oil do u burn in like 2,000 miles.let me know.
