Transmission problem
1997 Saturn SL1 Two Wheel Drive Manual 13500. Miles

I was backing up when I tried to shift into first gear. The stick went loosy goosy on me. It would not engage or even move into anything that seemed like a gear. The clutch felt fine. In fact I had to push on it to put the car into neutral so I could move it back into my space because the car stayed in reverse.

Take a look under the shifter boot see if one of the cables are unhooked from the shifter let me know what u find.

We found the problem. A $20.00 plastic link broke that is being reattach right now.
