1995 Saturn SL1 Brake

My Saturn is giving a brake sign on periodically and I did smell something near the tires but the tires are in good condition. I have no screeching noise from the brakes. Please tell me what this could mean before I take it for repair. Thank you. Kay

Usually when the brake sign comes on it means ur low on brake fluid. Meaning ur brake are worn usually the front or u have a brake fluid leak. So u should go get ur brakes checked. Let me know what u find.
