Hi. I am trying to find cause of a severe
wheel shimmy when breaks are applied,
had just installed new front break pads.
Seems normal otherwise.

The shimmy when braking sounds like the rotar need to be cleaned, as long as it had not shimmied before the brake job. It sounds like somehow grasee got on the rotors. You can take it back to where they did the brake job and show tghem what is happening or youcan buy a can of brake cleaner and spray them. Make sure you read instructions if you do it yourself. The rotors have to be cool.
