I was driving on the highway and turned off to an exit, stopped and went to accelerate at the green light and the car stalled. I shut the car off and started it (2-3 trys) after it started I press the gas and the car would start to lunge forward and while I had steady pressure on the accerator the rpms would go up and down with no increase in speed almost like the clutch was slipping. Also to add the temps were in the single digits outside at the time

One of the following could be causing your problem:

Oxygen sensor
Catalytic converter
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
