1998 Saturn SC2 acceleration issue

My car is running like crap, it puts really bad and back fires. I think its the oxygen sensor but I really dont know. How can I check it and what do you think it is?

Haven't seen a bad o2 sensor chase that. Let's start by u going to a auto parts store and get ur codes read if u have any codes let me know the numbers. Let ne know what u find.
