Hello,

I went to shift my car into gear last night and it now completely loose. I shifted it into reverse, shifted it into 1st, noticed I needed to back up a little more and when I tried the gear shifter seems to be disconnected. If I take the center console out, will I be able to access the gear shifter and whatever it SHOULD be connected to? I own a Chilton's manual but for whatever reason, they did not feel the need to show the gear shifter. Any help would be great.

First of all thank u so much for ur donation it really helps to keep this site going and helping other people with there car questions. Look under the shifter boot see if the left side shifter cable is unhooked from the shifter. If it is u will need a cable repair kit they sell them on eBay. Just put in Saturn shifter cable in the search box and it will come up with the repair kit. Also removing te console will give u acess for the repair. Let me know what u find.

Thanks much! Took off the center console, found the ball joint disconnected. Ordered a part off of ebay to repair it. Looks like an easy fix and I will be up and running again soon!

What a great site. I will use this site often to keep my Saturn running!
