1996, Manual, Saturn SC2

I have a 1996 saturn SC2 around 148,000 miles and I was driving it perfectly find around almost all day yesterday until I came to a stop light, I stopped, put my car in neutral just sitting there waiting for the girl light, light turned green and I put my car in first and tried to go, the car wouldnt budge. I tried 2nd gear as well, car wouldnt bugde. I had to get the car towed to my house.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Does ur shifter cables move at the transmission as u shift thru the gears? When u shift ur car does it feel tight and like it does normally? If so sounds like ur clutch is wore out or something broke in ur transmission. Let me know.

Well if everything shifts like normal and u can hear and feel it going into gear then there is only two things it could be something broke loose in the transmission or ur clutch is worn out most likely ur clutch is worn out.

I had an idea of popping the hood and messing with the throttle, I messed with it and the car would go forward, (of course I cant do it to long unless I want to get ran over), and when in gear, it makes a grinding/rattling noise.

Don't get under the hood with it in gear reving it up that's dangerous ur going to run urself over. Well if it starts to move when u rev it up and is making a grinding noise that could be ur clutch disc trying to engauge and going metal to metal ur going to have to get in there and check it out. Let me know what u find.
