My car is smoking very noticibly from under the hood. It just started, Ive owned it for 5-6 years and its been fine until today after I added 2 quarts of val. Max.10/30 from napa. Within 5 miles of adding the oil it just started smoking this horrible burnt rubber or oil smelling smoke. The engine isnt overheating. Car is running very smothly, no big knocks and shakes, just the normal slight vibration. I opened the hood and smoke was coming out from around the engine but I couldn't tell where from. I didnt see any oil spilled on it to burn. I've never had any major problems with my car so this worries me. Any advice is most appreciated.

PS---Started the car for work this morning(next morning), everything started fine, ran fine. Backed out of garage, HUGE puddle of oil and a drip trail following me out. So. Car resting back in the garage. Not sure whats wrong with it and if its safe now to even drive it to a mechanic.

(how much do people usually donate on here? Was going to do that but didnt know how much, haha)

So far what you described doesn't make any sense adding oil causing a big oil leak unless there is more to the story. You didn't over fill it did you?You said you didn't think you spilled any oil is there a chance maybe you did and didn't realize it?I would also check the basic's loose or leaking drain plug. Loose oil filter or when someone changed the oil filter damaged the gasket or left the old gasket in place and now you have two gasket's instead of one. As far as how much is the average donation I really couldn't tell you as a moderator we don't have access to see how much is donated. The only thing I can tell you is if you want to donate then you donate how much you want to donate.
