1995 Saturn SC1 4 cyl Manual 166000 miles

My Clutch on 95 SC1 Saturn has been slipping and was told last year that my clutch plate is going and needs to be replaced. Drove about a mile yesterday and parked. Decided to move car over. Started, moved about 10 feet went to backup. I stauled the car. Went to restart and NOTHING happens when I push in clutch. All the lights and everything come on but no sign of cranking. Did the clutch plate finally go causing it not to start? Please help. Clueless.

So you don't hear any noise coming from the starter when trying to start it. Make sure your battery cable's are clean and tight. Take your battery out and have it tested. Also do you have a test light or multimeter?

P.S. I'm also a single mom but pretty handy. Try to fix things myself due to finances.

Everything lights up but no sign of cranking when I push in clutch.

Checked battery, it's fine. It was just running a second before this but after I stauled it. The clutch didn't seem to work to start the car.

Without doing some testing with a test light or a multimeter a test light would be easier so we can trace power then I can't help you. Have you ever used a test light?

No I haven't. What would I test with it and how does it work? I can't even get the car in to have anything checked. Can I rent one? I moved here from Mich. 700 miles from family and friends so I know nobody to help here in NC. Is there a fuse for the clutch that I might be able to check. Battery is working fine there's lights and power just no crack when I push in clutch in any gear. If the clutch plate went all of a sudden would it prevent the car from starting?

The test light's are like 10 not that expensive. It has a clip on one end that you hook to a ground to check for power and hook to power to check for ground. The other end has a point for probing wire's.You most likely have a bad starter if you would like to get a test light i will tell you what to do next. Here's what it look's like.

I GREATLY APPRECIATE IT! Should I get a test light or a voltage meter to check things? It's a tight fit under the car but if I can get off the starter, will a parts store test it for me? Dang starters aren't cheap either are they :( I don't suppose you live anywhere near Mooresville, NC?

I would get a test light it would be easier for you to use. Yes if you take the starter off the part's store would test it for you. But it's not the easiest thing to do so we need to trace power first. Get a test light and I will give you further instruction's.I live in california no where near you sorry about that.
