Working on a friends 96 saturn 1.9 and there is a load knocking sounds like it is coming from timing chain housing. Is it posible that there could be slack with out jumping time. It also has a rough idol and a spudering acceleration they had it at another mech. And he checked the coil packs and said they tested fine because there is no fire on two cylenders. Alot of problem but alittle advise would be helpful thanks.

Maybe worn guides or weak tensioner. NOt positive but I think the tensioner relies on oil pressure. Again not positive.

IF I am correct about the tensioner, yes. I may be confusing this with the ecotech Motor? Maybe a guide worn out as well. Regardless if you go in there, I would always replace the tensioner if any other parts are replaced in the timing chain area. Just cheap insurance.
