Headrest removal

I have a 1996 Saturn SL2 with 112,000 miles.
My question is how do you remove my headrest? I recently purchased seat covers and the headrest doesn't just pull off or have a release button. Do you have any info on how to remove my headrest?

I'm not sure if the 96 is like the old 93. I'd have to go out and look. Not tonight.

The older models you should have a small notched hole in the plastic anchor that the head rest posts slide in. Stick a small screw driver into that notch about inch or two. Then the screw driver will make contact with the stopping mechanism that keeps you from pulling out the headrest when you fully raise it. Push in on the screwdriver to disengage the lock while you pull up on the headrest.

If you need to remove the plastic anchor you will have to get under the upholstry to remove the clips that hold it in.

Good luck and let us know. :)

Thank you, It worked on the passenger side, It looks like I'm going to have to get someone to help on the driver side, it just doesn't want to come off. I actually tried this yesterday on the driver side but not on the passenger side. I know it seem like a minor problem but thanks for your help.

Try a little penetrating oil or WD40. Wait a bit and give it a good yank.
