2003 Other Saturn Models Lost Power/Acceleration

The check engine light and the service light were on at the same time. The car suddenly lost power and would no longer accelerate. We took it to a nearby mechanic shop, they said the computer needed to be replaced, but not which one. Can you tell me if that sounds like the BCM or the PCM that needs to be replaced?

The check engine light has to be read by a scantool or a code reader to provide the code/s to identify the trouble area. What code/s are present in the computer's random access memory. We need this code/s to provide you the proper diagnosis.
