My daughter is being quoted $500 to replace the gasket by the local Saturn dealer (check engine light staying on). I think this might be a couple of hundred too much.

I'm in the chicago area and have my car in (as I type) for the same repair, and I was quoted just under $500. My car is also a 2002 SL1 and has 81k on it. From my online research this seems to be a common problem, and the repair cost seems to be pretty consistant.
