I was driving w/cruise set going 50mph when engine just quit. My dad thinks timing belt has failed. Engine pulleys at front of engine spin when engine is cranked, but engine doesn't sound like it is turning over at all. No compression sound. If it is the timing belt, what are the odds that the valves are bent? Thanks so much!

The odds are good that you tapped a few valves.
The 2.2 is an interfernce engiine.

It has a timing chain. They are know problems for the 2.2L The fault lies with the oil nozzle. Saturn issued a tsb for this.. They have a redesigned timing chain kit. It includes the chain, gear, and redesigned oil nozzle. The old design was starving the chain of oil at low RPM, thereby heating up the chain and causing premature failure.

Don't know what will come of this but check it out.
