Can the keyless remote be programed without having it done by a dealership.

No it can't you need a scanner with the correct software.Are you having trouble with your old remote?

Yes the battery always goes dead. have replaced twice and it still goes dead. Someone seguested that the BCM may be failing.

A bad bcm won't cause your remote battery to go dead.Are you testing these remote batteries with a volt meter?Or are you just assuming there dead?The remote batteries last a long time they don't go dead very often.
