My Saturn has been slowly leaking coolant. I have dealt with this for over a year. I finally decided to have it fixed. $500 for a new water pump and belt. Mechanic states that at some point the car has overheated and is leaking coolant into the engine. Now the car is stuttering at stops and the service engine light has come on. I took it back and they say there is nothing they can do. What is wrong with my car now?

Pull out the oil dip stick and see if there is coolant in the oil u will be able to tell it will look really differnt. If there is then u have coolant in the oil maybe a cracked head or head gasket. Sometimes the oil cooler leaks but when that happens usually u get oil in the coolant. Let me know what u find.
