2001 Saturn L200 ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION?

I JUST PURCHASED A 2001 SATURN L200. EVERYTHING WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY UNTIL THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WAS AT A RED LIGHT. I WENT TO PUSH ON THE GAS BUT THE CAR WOULD ONLY REACH ABOUT 20 MILES AND THE RPM'S WOULDNT GO EITHER. THEN WHEN IT DID FINALLY START TO PICK UP SPEED THE RPM'S WOULD TURN OVER. WHAT COULD THIS BE?

Do you have a 2.2L or the 3.0L you said you had V6 the L200 didn't come with a V6. Also you said the rpm's wouldn't turn over what does that mean?Also have you checked for code's?If not then I want you to see what code's you have.
