My check engine light came on so I went to advance auto store to see what is the problem and they gave me the code of po713, something dealing with the transmission temperature, high input, sensor circuit. I'm not sure what this means my mom said we should try to put some transmission fluid in there. Any advice I don't really have money I just bought this car in april.

If it's a 1997 what model is it really they didn't have a L200 till much later. Look on the registration card it will tell you the year and model. Let me know so I can help you.

The first thing I would do is remove the air box by your drivers side head light. There's 3 bolts holding it in once you get it out then you can see the transmission filter right next to the filter is the temp sensor that is causing that code. Inspect the connector and wiring to it for damage. Let me know what you find.
