The past couple of times of trying to start the car, the turnover time has been longer, not the quick start that it usually does. After driving for less than a mile, the cooling fan will come on and the engine is not running hot. This morning, while accelerating up a bridge, the RPM's dropped and the car cut off. I coasted and pulled over and was able to restart it. After doing so and driving 500 ft it started to have a light white smoke coming from under the hood. I have had it towed to the shop. Any ideas?

It sounds like the ignition module is going bad causeing the fan to turn on, but sometimes when they go bad it also makes the catalytic convertor get really hot and go bad also, which can make it stall.
