2003 Saturn Ion Automatic 50981 miles

Is it possible for the mileage on this car to have tampered with? It seems that these are really low miles for a car so old? I want to buy this car and I am a single mom of 2 and do not want to get screwed.

The car does have low miles but doesnt mean its been tampered with, they might not drive it much. Ask if you can see the service records on the vehicle to see if they maintaned it or the car just sat for long periods of time. Are you buying it from a private owner?Dealer?Used car lot? What is the vin number I will run it. Post back with any other questions.

Thanks so much for your reply. It is a private dealer. The car has be decked out a bit and there was a remote car start added so my father was concerned. I dont know the vin number. I found the car on craigs list posted for 5999 and when we went to see it yesterday he said he wanted 5700 but today has agreed to take 5500 for the car.
Is there anything with these cars I should look for as far as going wrong? Do they really get 32 miles to gallon? Is there a history of problems with this model?

As far as gas milage its hard to say, everybody drives differently so milage will vary. As far as problems, only ones I can think of is lots of steering coloumn problems and floor shifter problems.(Not wanting to come out of gear). Alot of lower control arm bushings too. I see alot of these problems from working at the chevy dealer, I see these on the cobalts which is also a G5 and ion. Overall there not a bad car.

It helps me determine where it was bought, what equipment it has, any open recalls, what dealer it was bought at, etc. But there is something interesting about the vehicle that you might want to look into, ITS A SALVAGE VEHICLE!And it has a warrenty block on it, which means the owner couldnt have any warrenty work done, probably because of the salvage title. Which means this vehicle was 1 wrecked really bad and totaled out and then fixed, or it was stolen and then fixed, or it was a flood vehicle. It would be a mistake buying this car, I would find more info on it. Hopefully you dont read this to late!Let me know how you make out.
