I was driving on the freeway at high speed, and the car broke down, just stopped, oil was everywhere and I can't even move it at all now. I was told a rod bearing went through the oil pan. I am trying to find a video on how to replace the rod bearings myself without taking the motor out?

Hi,

If in fact you have a connecting rod that went through the oil pan, you have more damage than just rod bearings.

If this is the case, chances are the crankshaft is damaged, you have at least one broken connecting rod, and there may be damage to the cylinder wall of the affected cylinder.

The engine would need to be removed and torn down for an overhaul in most cases. If there is significant damage to a cylinder wall, it isn't repairable.

To confirm what has happened, could you take a few pictures of the damage and any parts that were found and upload them for me to see? It will help me determine if this is what happened.

Let me know.

Joe
