I had an old transmission in the barn. Been sitting for years. I recently acquired a truck that needed a transmission. So I took transmission to a guy and he put all new clutches and seals and gaskets in it. He did not touch valve body. I put transmission in truck. All I have is third and reverse. No matter where I put shifter it stays in third. If I put it in first it still takes off in third. I can shift to reverse and it works. Only forward gear I have is third. Is that the valve body? Manual valve not lining up right? Thanks

Good morning.

Yes, this sounds like valve body issues. They should have gone through the valve based on the time it sat. They made a big mistake by not doing a proper rebuild by going through the valve body.

The direct clutch is always applied. That's why you have third gear only and reverse.
