I am trying to replace the rear fuel filter. I drained the filter, disconnected the electrical sensor, and loosed all of the screws. The base and filter are supposed to drop down, but this one will not. I double checked the nuts...not the problem. I was frustrated so I used a pry bar which separated the base from the filter. The filter is still stuck in the housing. I don't get it. Any suggestions?

The fuel filter-water separator is what you are talking about? Can you upload an image so I can see? If it is the one they show in the repair manual you will need to remove the fuel tank. Check out the images (below). Please upload pictures or videos in your response of any problems so we can see what to help you with.

From the videos I watched, the filter is supposed to drop out once you remove all of the screws. A photo is below.

Yep, you are right, the filter should just pop out of there, it must be sealed tight which is why you cannot remove it, did you open the valve first? Try to use the mounting bolts for the filter to help break the seal loose. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
