I had a scratch on my car so I tried to rub it with Easy Off. Big mistake because now it looks like a dark spot on top of the scratch and it looks dull. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to take the dark spot out and give it some shine?

Good afternoon.

The Easy Off is too abrasive. It has removed the clear coat from the paint in that area.

What you see is the paint without the clear coat. The paint is normally dull but the clear coat gives it the shine.

You can try spraying some clear coat on the spot but it most likely will not look good at the blend.

The correct way is to take it to a body shop and they will tape off a larger area with edges, remove the other clear coat and respray it to blend correctly.
