Power tail gate

The gate opens about one foot then closes completely. I can do a manual opening but it still wants to close as I hold it open. It will stay open once it is fully opened.

First thing you need to do is consult the owners manual to see the operation of the tail gate. Some manufactures have a procedure to where you can adjust the height opening.

If there is no procedure then you would need an advanced scan tool to do the relearn cycle or scan for trouble codes in the power lift gate control module for proper diagnosis.
