Transmission problem
1966 Pontiac Tempest V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

1966 pontiac 2-speed type 300 auto. Trans. Rebuillt it myself with master rebuild kit. Had repair manual to work from. After rebuild the transmission fluid does not seem to be pumped from trans. Pan. When check fluid on dipstick with engine ideling it is way up on stick, it does not seem to be pumped out to torque converter, car will not move forward or reverse. It has new torque converter. Any help appreciated.

Hi there,

You will have to do a line pressure test, if you have no oil pressure at all, the problem may be with the pump or the pump drive, I have no schematic for this transmission to work off, so I will not be able to give detailed advice, may be talk with a local transmission specialist as well, but see if you have oil pressure first.
