Okay so I have been having trouble starting my car, I was told it might be an alternator or a vaccuum leak. So this morning as I was trying to get the car started it took me a couple of tries and finally it started. As I was driving down the road my check engine light came on. What could be going wrong with my car? Any advice?

Can you check for codes? Some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free.

When it is hard to start, are you saying it cranks good but won't start? Can you check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure, with the engine cranking?
