Hi my car is a 1998 pontiac sunfire 2.2L automatic with 120,000 miles. I had a bad water pump and replaced it yesterday. The car seemed fine and I have been driving it like a normal day. But as I was driving home today ( about a 20 min drive ) about half way home my check engine light came on and I lost a lot of power in my car. I could hardly make it up any hills and when I put my car in park in the driveway it started bogging out and almost sounding like I ran out of gas. I shut my car off and let it sit for a minute. I turned it back on and the check engine light was still on. Could it be anything with my water pump. Or a bad censor. Im lost on this one please help me out : :D

Is there any possible way that you can scan it for trouble codes?

Well since theres a check engine light, it would be grand to kn ow what codes there are, eliminates alot of guess and check!

Right now you could have a possible fuel or spark problem, more then likely it is fuel. Did the engine overheat at all before, or after the pump was changed? Or notibly ran hotter? Also was there anything you disconnected electrically to remove the pump, you may not have put one back on properly.

When the car starts bogging down it would be nice if you could check for fuel pressure at that time, it would tell if its loosin gpressure then starting to bogg down due to loss of fuel pressure, or if the fuel pressure is up to specs then you can move to the injectors.

Hows your plugs and wires look? Also if aplicable check the distributor cap and rotor for wear and carbon buildup.
