Engine Mechanical problem
1992 Pontiac Sunbird

i started my car to warm it up, it started and was running fine. When I went back outside I could hear the fan running and the lights were on but the engine was no longer running. When I tried to restart it all it did was "tick". I checked the battery cables and they were on tight other than that I have no idea what to look for. Very mechanially challenged woman here! Lol. Hopefully some1 has a suggestion that will be able to help me getting it going without to much trouble. And yes there is gas :P

Try getting a jumpstart to see if it will start up. Battery is probably dead because car stalled out and lights and fans and other accessories were on.

Jumpstarted it and it ran for about 2 min before dying out again. As I prevously posted i'm mechanically challenged and have no idea where to even start looking. Can I have the battery tested to make sure its just the battery and not something else. I would hate to go buy a new battery only to find out its something else, this is why I used to catch the bus lol :)

Your in luck. Most automotive places will scan the vehicle battery for you for free. That way you can find out if the battery is good or bad and you wont have to worry bout replacing something that aint bad.
