Engine Performance problem
1997 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a '97 Grand Prix that won't start unless you step on the gas pedal but once you release the pedal the engine stops running, already changed the TPS sensor, Map Sensor and the IAC valve and still it won't run, what can I do?

Did you check any sensor circuits, before you replaced anything? Are there any codes? If you have a dmm, you can check ref voltage, signal, ground on the sensor circuits.

If the iac passages in the throttle-body are clogged, a new iac won't matter. Right now, I can't tell where the problem is located?

I took the car to a Mechanic and he did a diagnostic and got several codes (about 5-6) and replace all of the sensors that I mentioned and a short circuit in one of the connectors, the car ran fine for about 2 days but then the check engine light turned on and then the car just stopped and doesn't run, the mechanic told me that it maybe the fuel regulator but I have already spent a lot of money and still got no results should I change that part or take it to another place?

Can you do some of the basic tests? Have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If you have good spark everywhere, check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores will loan a fuel pressure gage.

Can you check for codes?
