My vehicle is leaking coolant fairly rapidly and in turn begins to overheat very fast. There is never any coolant puddling which tends to have me believe it is a water pump issue. If this is not correct please help me. If it is correct I would like some direction and possibly tips for replacing a water pump on my 95 pontiac grand prix with a 3.1 litre V6. Thank you very much I appreciate your help.

Hi edwardt,

Thank you for the donation.

The easiest way to check for cooling system leaks is with a pressure test. Regulated pressure is applied to the cooling system and any leaks would appear.

A visual inspection can be carried out whereby you look for signs of coolant spilled onto engine components. If no coolant leaks are visible, the most likely place would be the gheater core. Look under the carpets to see if they are damp or soaked.
