Engine Performance problem
1994 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 180k miles

I have a 3.1 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix and I have this problem nobody can seem to figure out. It all started when my fuel pump went out and I took my car to a shop to get the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced, when I got the car the guy who changed it told me that I might need a tune up becacuse the car is running rough, it now jerks forward when I let off the gas, it putters when I start it up and it now stalls sometimes when I let off the gas at a red light or a stop sign. It seems to be fine after a few minutes but after a few more it starts again. Ive replaced the throttle position sensor hoping maybe that would be it and even took it to auto zone and advanced to get it analyzed but they said my car was too old to do it. I bought new plugs and wires but havent installed them yet. Any help I could really use thanks.

I just had this replaced by Midas last year.
The bill was 1200 but had I known how easy it was I would have done it myself. This is about a $400 part. But is trivial to install. My symptoms was inexplicable reving and loss of power. The tachometer would drop low while stopped at lights so I would put the car in neutral and rev the engine to prevent it from dying.
After the replacement it ran like new.

Note that in most cars the part is referred to as a Mass Air Flow Sensor but for the 3.4 L it was merely called an Air Flow Sensor.
