Lately my service engine light intermittently comes on, then will go back off. My scanner says EGR solenoid 3 failure whenever this happens. I replaced the EGR and 3 days later the same issue has recurred. Is there any other component that may be causing the EGR to fault out?

When this happens, the car is always at highway speed, and I notice no difference in performance. However, also recently, the car can be difficult to restart and get moving again if it is warm. The engine starts to miss and stall very badly. I have to feather the throttle and ease the RPMs up, throw it in drive and work it up to speed. Usually within a few blocks it clears up and starts to run OK. Is this tied into the EGR issue or other? There is no engine service light when this occurs.

EGR flow at idle will cause engine to stall and other driveablility problems.

Check wiring to EGR, clean connectors, and when you replaced the EGR valve, you need to clean the base to get all soot out as this may be causing the pintle to get stuck when it opens.

Also check for vacuum leaks at the tube.
