Dashlights

Hi my friend has a 1992 pontiac grand am and it has a 2.5L engine and probably about 150,000 miles on it and the dashlights are completly out and he said it all of a sudden went out and we checked the headlight switch and the fuses what could be possibly wrong with it? One more thing I have a 1991 chevy cavalier andit has 166,000 miles on it and has 2.2 Liter when I turn on my right turn signal the headlights sometimes goes out but they come baqck on quickly when the blinker goes back into the original position. But only does it once in a while. Thank you
