2001 Pontiac Grand Am catalytic converter problem

my car has had a rattle noise like a thin metal rattling mostly whenever it's hot outside and today I had my car running when it's been a bit hot outside and checked under the hood and couldn't find anything. But I looked under the car while it was turned on and found the rattling noise is coming from the head shield over the catalytic converter. It's not the heating shield, I already checked and know what it is and this head shield is covering the whole entire catalytic converter ONLY and nothing else. I saw that the head shield was split in half where it's supposed to be bolted in somehow and has black near where it's split which tells me the heat had something to do with it possibly.
my question is. Is this something I should be worrying about enough to get it fixed right off or is it not so big of a problem? And what could have caused the head shield to split right across like it is?
CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS AT PARTYPOSSE_2K@YAHOO. COM. Thanks!

Not a concern. Take a few radiator clamps and connect them together so they will reach around the converter. Tighten them around the shield and it will stop making noise.

This is a very common problem.
