2000 Pontiac Grand Am Car runs ruff

Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Automatic 150000 miles

My car is running ruff when cold at start up. Smoke comes out the exhaust till the car is warmed up.
Also using alot of gas.
Service engine light is on.

What color is the smoke? Also, have you had the computer scanned? The check engine light indicates there is a trouble code stored in the computer. Have it scanned if you haven't already. Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free.
