2000 Pontiac Grand Am belt makes a loud noise

My car makes a loud noise it sounds like a belt and also the runs hot at about 240 degrees

Check that the belt is tight and in good condition, replace if at all suspect, replace the thermostat and check for any external coolant leaks as well as for a faulty pressure cap, start here.

I had the thermostat replaced and the water pump also the belt was not making that noise until I had the other things fixed and still runs to 240*
