key won't turn out of lock is in the dash not steering coulum can the cable that goes to the gear shift be the problem I can't start my car key won't turn

Key should still turn, it just would not start the car in anything other than park or neutral.

I would suspect the ign. Switch. If you can remove the ign. Switch, take to locksmith for repair.
