I have a 99 v6 and it also has the service light on all the time. But those cars with the v6 tend to do mulltiple missfires and sometimes u wont feel them. Those cars were made with the sparkplugs positions bad that they missfire. The cars r not bad but u cannot fix that. If u get a scanner from autozone witch they have loaners and scann it it probably gonna say multiple missfires on all cilinders. Dont get scared just normal on these cars. Just keep up with the tune ups and use good plkugs on it and it will reduce misfires. And if u need to smogg it all I do is get the scanner and erase the service light off and smogg it then if if it turns on again I just leave it alone until next smogg.
