I replaced my head gaskets on my 95 firebird 3.4l. Now when I start the car up it jumps up to 4000 rpms. I made sure all the electrical connections were correct and I played with the tps, iac and the o2 sensors and nothing changed. There isnt many vacuum lines on the car and ive checked those too. I was wondering if on this model there is a groud strap located on the cylinder head towards the rear of the motor or if anyone knows why this is happening? Thanks

Is your engine actually idling this high at idle, or is the tach telling you it's idling that high when it really isn't?

Something may be amiss with your camshaft/crankshaft position sensor. Use a DVOM to probe the connectors and check the sensors to spec. If that's not the problem, write back and I'll help you from there.
