I am working on putting a new pinion gear in my 1993 pontiac firebird trans am. I cannot figure out how to pull the axles apart to get to it

There are four bolts that hold the axle in place. Remove the bolts then there is a slide hammer puller used to remove each axle.

Some axles hace a C lock. Look at the end of the axle inside the pumpkin. The pinion shaft will have to be removed so the shafts can move inward making the c locks accessible to be removed. Once you get the c locks removed then you will be able to use the slide to remove the axle.
