Hi I own a 1981 chevy el camino. This past winter I put a 1990 pontiac firebird tpi (5.7) into it. Now its the summer and after driving it the oil pan gasket started leaking. I figured it would be easy so I bought a new pan and gasket. After undoing the oil pan bolts I relized that the pan would not come out. I was wondering if I need to pull the engine or lift it up enough to slide the pan out. Also the gasket for that year is one piece. Does anyone know of an easier way to do this or should I try a 4 piece cork gasket?

I'm guessing that the pan is very tight on this eh?

The 4 piece one. You could make it work if you get a good one. Well, maybe.
It could be very tricky and would require patience, you may wish that you just pulled it out before you're done.

Thanks for the reply. I was told the same thing basicly from someone else. I might as well just pull the engine and do it right. Thanks again.
