1988 Pontiac Firebird Need help with my door

1988 Pontiac Firebird

i recently bought a 1988 firebird and the following day I had it, the driver side door wouldn't open, I took the inside panel off and found that there was a piece missing that connects the door handle rod to the part that opens it, I was told that its a plastic clip or something that I needed to get, does anyone know what that part is called? Hope this made sense
