We have had the battery and alternator checked and both are fine but when driving the vehicle the gauge goes low and lights get dim

Welcome to the forum, were the systems checked on or off the vehicle? With everything turned off use a digital volmeter across the battery post. A full charge is around 12.6 volts. Then start the engine, take another reading across the battery posts, the second reading should be a volt higher than the first, that shows the charging system is working.
