Transmisson problem

I recently just bought a 1965 plymouth fury III and the car has a auto transmission. The car shifts into first gear an drives put when u punch the gas it feels like the transmission just is slipping and wont shift into second. The people I bought it from said that it was fine but it has been sitting for a couple months and it started to do this.

The car is 40 years old, once the fluid drained to the pan, some of the clutches and seals may have started to show thier age. If you are lucky, maybe a band adjustmen, or Vacuum modulator. Maybe.
