Check engine light came on. I went to AutoZone and said it was showing a P1299 code. Cylinder head temperature sensor. While driving home Warning message to stop safely overheating came on. I pulled over and turned off the engine. I looked under the hood and had plenty of coolant. Started the car and all was normal. Went a bought the sensor the next day and replaced it. As soon as I started the engine it was in limp mode with the same warning message.

Just to make sure you replace the correct sensor please use the reference in the images below. Also, did you clear the codes once the job was done?

The P1299 code in a 2013 Ford Escape refers to an issue with the cylinder head temperature sensor. This sensor monitors the temperature of the engine's cylinder head and provides this information to the engine control module (ECM). The ECM uses this data to regulate the engine's performance and emissions.

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
